Selkirk, MB – James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman, was pleased by the announcement of over $50,000 in funding through New Horizons for Seniors for the Beausejour-Brokenhead region.
“I wish to congratulate Beausejour-Brokenhead Development Corp. on securing $54,018 in funding from New Horizons for Seniors for the Town of Beausejour, the RM of Brokenhead and Beau-Head for Seniors.
“The Town of Beausejour and Beau-Head for Seniors received a total of $37, 931 to provide seniors with more recreation options. The Town of Beausejour will purchase and install outdoor gym equipment for use by seniors and other community members. Additionally, the Beau-Head for Seniors will get new equipment and expand their ability to provide programming options including yoga, dancing, informative courses and cooking courses.
“The RM of Brokenhead also received $11,908 for an intergenerational project. The seniors will be teaching local youth how to crochet while sharing the history of the local Anishinabe.
“These projects will ensure that our seniors maintain a high quality of life and continue as active, participating members of their communities. I am happy to see New Horizons for Seniors and local organizations working together to benefit the seniors that are working hard to make important contributions to our community.”
