Justin Trudeau failing our troops: Bezan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – James Bezan, Shadow Minister for National Defence, issued a statement on Justin Trudeau’s failure to fund the Liberal defence policy.

“Justin Trudeau campaigned on a promise to ensure the Canadian Armed Forces would be fully funded. However, plans from the Department of National Defence show that the Liberals are shortchanging our military to the tune of $4 billion when compared to the Liberal defence policy, Stong, Secure, Engaged.

“These figures confirm what Conservatives have been saying all along. Justin Trudeau’s defence policy is a book of empty promises which the Liberal government has no intention of keeping.

“Whether it is taking danger pay away from our brave men and women fighting ISIS terrorists, cutting the special allowance for our ill and injured troops, or botching the procurement process, it is clear that Justin Trudeau continues to overpromise and under deliver.

“By failing to maintain Canada’s military capabilities, Justin Trudeau is not meeting the needs of our Canadian Armed Forces. Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives will ensure that those who serve our country day in and day out are equipped with the necessary resources.”
